1930s female sleuth at night on street.

Welcome Friends!

Writing as Ivy Pearl (my grandmothers’ names combined), I create cozy historical mysteries filled with buried secrets, sharp women, old houses, and the kind of trouble that starts politely before going bad.

My stories are for readers who like vintage atmosphere, layered clues, and a little dry humor with their alibis.

“When someone is mean to me, I just make them a victim in my next book.”

~ MARY HIGGINS CLARK

1. Outline

Lay out the bones of the case: the crime, the suspects, the secrets, and the clues that must land before the truth can surface.

2. Draft

Follow the trail onto the page. The first version is where motives shift, alibis crack, and the story begins to show what it knows.

3. Edit

Cut what wanders. Sharpen what matters. Check the clues, tighten the pace, and make sure every polite conversation has the right shadow behind it.

4. Publish

Send the finished mystery into the world, properly dressed, carefully edited, and carrying more trouble than it first appears.

You, My Friend

have come to the right place

Stories have a way of finding us at just the right time.

They keep us company on quiet evenings, carry us into another place, and let us follow the clues from the safety of a favorite chair.

Here on the Ivy Pearl site, I’ll share the world behind my cozy historical mysteries: 1930s life, vintage style, old movies, small-city gossip, newspaper offices, house secrets, research rabbit trails, and the occasional behind-the-scenes note on how a mystery comes together.

Whether you’re here for the books, the atmosphere, or the pleasure of a well-placed clue, I’m glad you found your way here.

Welcome, friend. Pull up a chair. Something suspicious is bound to happen.
